Frosty temperatures certainly do not affect the fun of Hamilton residents as they prepare to celebrate one of the city’s most beloved annual traditions, Hamilton Winterfest.
The 17-day event that runs from February 3-19 celebrates its 40th anniversary this year with an incredible roster of activities to celebrate the beauty of the season and demonstrate that Hamiltonians don’t hibernate in winter.
Partnering with neighborhood associations, galleries, museums, recreation centres and small businesses the city will fete the frost with a series of winter-inspired art exhibits and workshops like “Work It!” A Spoken Word and Activism Workshop with Janice Jo Lee; heritage activities such as the Hamilton Public Library Artist and Writers for Black History Month Series highlighting graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat; recreational activities such as the free family skates at many of the City’s community centres, and taste sensations like Flight and Bite at the Ridge Road Estate Winery to name only a few. The wintertime festival provides a wonderful opportunity to explore the city and features something for everyone to enjoy.
