I have been very fortunate to have worked with and learned from many professionals who are considered to be some of the leading experts in the field of brain injury. The knowledge I have gained has been invaluable. But for me, the lessons I have learned from listening to survivors of brain injury and their families has given me a much greater understanding of the consequences of brain injury. To hear their struggles and how they have coped with different situations that they have encountered is truly inspirational. For anyone struggling with the effects of brain injury my advice is to find a brain injury support group in your area. No one knows or understands your struggles better than someone who has been there. The Hamilton Brain Injury Association offers support groups to individuals who have sustain a brain injury, their caregivers and their spouses. You are not alone.
