What is catastrophic impairment?

Catastrophic impairment is a designation for serious impairment caused by catastrophic personal injuries that include quadriplegia, paraplegia, amputation, loss of vision, largescale physical impairment, and traumatic brain injuries, among others. Victims who are determined to be catastrophically impaired are entitled to additional accident benefits.
